More Centerpiece Talk

I found this idea at that Totally Tabletops blog Ab linked to a while back, and I just think it looks really cool. I think it might look neat if you just had a few lemons in a thin vase filled with water. Just thoughts.
Another plus is that these really wouldn't cost too much. I mean, it would be lemons, vase, water. Very simple, yet they have a very artsy look about them.

Que bonita! They look like cherry blossoms! That would be artistic looking to put lemons in the glass and add them.

Oh, and also it would go with the "theme" and be like lemonade: water, glass, lemon. Maybe if they were real lemons people would squeeze them and they would make their own lemonade/punch. That would save money hehe-J/K. Anyway, I like the idea! That'd be pretty! :-)

I'm using your lemon meringue pie idea. It seemed appropriate and a yummy alternative to cake to have a lemon meringue pie at the reception. I know I'm off topic now lol.

I lovelove these. I even like the idea of having different types of flowers in the same color family. My only concern is related to a British science show I used to watch.

The show had a segment every week called "Will it float" that consisted of a super hot Hawaiian girl in a bikini (who appeared to speak no English) and she would get into a pool with a piece of fruit to determine if it would float. I can't remember if lemons float, but I think they would be cuter on the bottoms of the vases than the tops.

For money-saving purposes, once you decide how many vases you need, we should see how many we can collect by borrowing and garage sale-ing. I know my mom has at least 4 tall clear vases.

"Will it float?"

Well, you know what won't float? The tiny weights fishermen use to sink the fishing line. I'm sure a few weights stuck inside a lemon would make it sink.

Oh my god. I never thought your dad's fishing expertise would come in useful.

LOL I do remember a show with fruit and "Will it Float" hahaha. I'm wondering now if the whole bikini thing was just a way to get jr. high and highschool boys to pay attention to learn density lol. Those fishing sinkers could soooo come in handy if the lemons were somehow Easter egg style where they opened up :-). That'd be awesome! You are both very resourceful!

I was thinking we'd just cut a slit into the lemon and shove the sinkers in. We'll have to be careful of getting lemon juice in the eye. Which I hear is unpleasant.

Good idea. We could just wear our sunglasses while we put the sinkers in. :-D

Ok, so I just put a small orange in a glass of water, and it floated, so I assume lemons would float too. I don't know how the sinkers would work, if you were trying to use whole lemons, because then you'd have to put holes in them. But, what if you didn't even use water? We have a lemon bush and my mom always just picks like 10 and puts them in this big clear vase, and i think it looks nice. So you could always consider not including the water...
